Where can I get Dementia support in Greenwich?

Find out which Royal Greenwich organisations provide advice, information and support to anyone caring for people living with dementia.

Although face-to-face dementia support services have been suspended, some organisations still offer a range of telephone support and virtual activities.

MindCare

Greenwich MindCare provides information, support and advice to people to both dementia patients and their carers in the Greenwich area. MindCare’s dementia advisors work alongside the Memory Service at Greenwich Memorial Hospital to provide the following:

  • Personalized advice and information
  • Individual person-centred support planning
  • Help to access other support, services and community resources
  • Carer-specific workshops
  • Follow up support and contact

Greenwich Carers Centre

Greenwich Carers Centre offers practical and emotional support to anyone caring for family members, friends and/or neighbours living with dementia.

The staff provide both a telephone and zoom service. The Telephone Service can be accessed between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. The zoom activities are offered throughout a varied time range that can be accessed through the numbers provided below.

Reflections

Online and offline groups for people with dementia and their carers.

Reflections offers friendship groups for people living with dementia and a carers support group for their family, friends, and neighbors. The group will help you make life long connections with friends you have never met and help put you around people in similar situations.

Irish Community Services

Their Memory Services offer telephone support for people with dementia and their Carers. There is also a programme of activities delivered via Zoom.

Age Exchange

Age Exchange runs groups for people living with dementia (both young and old) and their carers. Established in 1983, Age Exchange brings people together and works tirelessly to reduce isolation and loneliness, promote intergenerational understanding and improve the quality of life for those with dementia, and supporting carers to maintain their health and wellbeing.

There is a £5 charge for the groups and they take place at either Age Exchange or via zoom every other week.

Friends Together Cafe

The Friends Together cafe is a free drop in group for anyone living with dementia or caring for someone living with dementia.

The Friends Together cafe is a safe and supportive environment where you’ll have the opportunity to share experiences, or simply have a cup of tea and a chat with others in a similar situation.
