Find out where to get help and support for the rising cost of living in Greenwich.
The price of energy, food and bills are all rising steeply, and many of us are struggling to keep up with the cost of living.
You might have had money problems for months or years, or these extra bills could mean you’re starting to worry for the first time. Either way, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. We can often feel embarrassed or overwhelmed when talking about money and mental health problems, but you’re not alone.
There’s help available and lots of services that can support you:
- Citizens Advice Greenwich or call 080 8278 7965 (freephone)
- Your energy supply – Citizens Advice – information on what to do if you are struggling to pay your bills
- Live Well Greenwich or call 0800 470 4831
- Greenwich Foodbank or call 0800 470 4831 – provide emergency food and support to local people who are referred in crisis.
- WASH (Warm & Safe Homes) – a free support service from National Energy Action (NEA). Offers advice on maximising your income, energy billing, fuel debt, energy efficiency and trust fund applications or call 0800 304 7159, Monday-Friday 10am-12 noon.
- Debtfree London Greenwich or call 0800 808 5700 – based in The Forum, Greenwich.
- Clockhouse Advice Hub, Woolwich – Fridays 9:30am – 12pm – face to face information and advice about universal credit, housing rights, welfare benefits and debt management.
- Mayor of London – hub with information about help you can get if you’re in financial difficulty.
- Mind have a feature on money and mental health to support you if you’re worried about money ahead of the upcoming rises in energy prices.
