Strike action - what you need to know in Greenwich
Find out more about NHS strikes.
The London Ambulance Service is taking industrial action today on Wednesday 11 January - starting at 11am and finishing at 11pm.
- If you need urgent medical care, please come into hospital, especially in emergency and life-threatening situations (please come in alone, or with one other person only)
- If you have an appointment, please come in as planned. If this changes, we will contact you
- Ambulances will still be responding to calls on Wednesday, but this may only be where there is an immediate risk to life
- When the Ambulance Service is on strike, only call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency – if someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk
- If you need help but your situation is not life-threatening, please visit NHS111 or call NHS 111 (dial 111 on your phone – it is free)
- GP services are not affected by this strike action. Please go to your GP appointments as planned, unless they contact you
- For more information on when to call 999 and when to go to A&E, you can visit the NHS UK website
- If you are booked in for maternity care, please see this update from the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust maternity team
Scheduled appointments and operations should continue as usual, unless there’s a clinical or safety reason to reschedule. Providers will contact patients directly, if that’s the case.
You can help alleviate pressure on our services by using the right services when appropriate.
