It's never too late to get your COVID vaccine

COVID-19 is still active, and the vaccine offers the best protection against becoming seriously unwell, having to go to hospital and passing the virus on to others.

It’s never too late to come forward for your first or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine if you’ve needed a bit more time to make up your mind.

And if you had your second dose more than three months ago, you can still get extra protection with a booster dose.

You can join around 1.5 million people who have had a first dose and over 1 million people who have had a booster vaccination in south east London alone. Keeping up with your Covid-19 vaccinations means you are well protected, with evidence from the UK Health Security Agency showing that a booster jab prevents around 75% of people getting Covid symptoms. It also makes life easier, especially when it comes to planning holidays, work trips or visiting family abroad.

Those who are 75 years and over, living in a care home for older adults or 12 and over with a weakened immune system can also get an additional booster this spring/summer.

I’m delighted to represent the one millionth person to receive a Covid booster jab in south east London. I’m looking forward to going away this summer and my travels will be a lot smoother now. I’d like to thank all the NHS staff and volunteers who have helped residents like me get protected
