My time at Healthwatch Greenwich has been an exciting and memorable journey. Upon my introduction to the healthcare system of the United Kingdom, I was given so much insight and knowledge of the NHS. I have learned so much about the contrasting systems of healthcare from my home country and felt like I was constantly growing in knowledge. Most importantly, Healthwatch has taught me about the importance of giving people a voice, especially those who are suppressed. In the area of Greenwich, it has been a privilege to amplify those voices and serve the local community. From giving patient surveys to helping guide locals to find a new doctor, my role has felt meaningful and valued.

I have loved being able to sit down and listen to people’s stories, struggles, and triumphs. We provide useful insight to improve the planning, delivery, and support of health and social care. Additionally, I had the opportunity to participate in the co-production research project that aims to give a voice and resources to immigrant mothers. Seeing firsthand how my efforts have contributed to our team makes me thankful for the opportunity of this internship. Healthwatch Greenwich is the voice of those unheard. The community and the NHS are further uplifted by this group and strive to grow. I will miss this team and this position dearly. I have learned a lot about myself and the healthcare system of the United Kingdom. I hope to take these new skills back with me to further my efforts to improve healthcare in the United States. Thank you, Healthwatch; this has been a wonderful summer
