World Oral Health Day – 20 March 2026

Celebrated globally every year on 20 March and organised by the FDI World Dental Federation, this day unites communities around the world to promote better oral health and raise awareness of the impact a healthy mouth has on overall wellbeing.

At Healthwatch Greenwich, we’re proud to support World Oral Health Day 2026, observed every year on 20 March. This global awareness day, led by the FDI World Dental Federation, encourages everyone—regardless of age, background or location—to understand the importance of good oral health and take positive steps toward a healthier mouth.

This year marks the final chapter of the three‑year global campaign theme, “A Happy Mouth Is… A Happy Life.” The 2026 theme highlights how good oral health affects every part of our daily lives—from how we eat and speak to how we socialise, work and feel about ourselves. A healthy mouth plays a vital role in lifelong wellbeing, supporting confidence, communication and quality of life at every stage.

Oral diseases remain among the most common non‑communicable conditions worldwide, affecting billions of people, yet many of these conditions are preventable through early intervention and simple daily habits. Regular brushing, flossing, routine check-ups and good nutrition all contribute to long-term oral health and can help prevent gum disease, decay and other serious complications.

World Oral Health Day also aims to empower communities with knowledge and confidence to take control of their oral health. This includes understanding the strong connections between oral health and other health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes—further reinforcing the mouth–body link promoted by the campaign.

At Healthwatch Greenwich, we want to ensure everyone in our borough has access to the right dental information and services when they need them. If you have concerns about accessing dental care, want to share your recent experiences, or need guidance on where to seek support, we are here to listen.
