Celebrating International Nurses Day- May 12

International Nurses Day is an opportunity to recognise the extraordinary contribution nurses make to our health and care system — in hospitals, GP practices, care homes, community services and beyond.

At Healthwatch Greenwich, we see every day how nurses shape people’s experiences of care. They are often the first to listen, the first to reassure and the first to act when someone needs help. Their skill, compassion and commitment play a vital role in keeping our communities healthy and supported.

This years theme

This year’s theme highlights the importance of investing in nursing and ensuring the profession has the resources, recognition and working conditions it deserves. Through our work gathering patient feedback, we hear how much nurses matter — not only for clinical care, but for the humanity and dignity they bring to every interaction.

We also know the pressures nurses face, from rising demand to workforce shortages. That’s why listening to their experiences is essential. Their insights help shape safer, fairer and more responsive services for everyone in Greenwich.

Today, we say a heartfelt thank you to every nurse making a difference. Your dedication strengthens our community, and we are proud to champion your voice.

Happy International Nurses Day. 💙
