About this event

Join us on Thursday 26th November at 3pm for our first Healthwatch Greenwich Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Advisory Group meeting.

In July, we brought together service users and community groups representing Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities with commissioners and local healthcare service providers to better understand experiences during the first Covid-19 lockdown, the availability of support, accessing and using health and care services, and the impact of systemic racism.  Commissioners and providers made a number of commitments, including:

Royal Borough of Greenwich

  • Developing an Equality and Equity Charter which sets out pledges to promote the values of equality, diversity and inclusion, and welcome views to help shape the Charter and collectively agree on a set of commitments that can be adopted in all organisations and groups

NHS Lewisham and Greenwich Trust

  • Setting up a working group with partners to tackle health inequalities

NHS Oxleas Trust

  • Commencing culturally sensitivity workshops in November to ensure that all staff have cultural competence awareness training

South East London Clinical Commissioning Group (Greenwich)

  • Work in Partnership with BAME communities to improve the cultural competence of our services, and develop a work plan which will prioritise this

Our advisory group will work together to support commissioners and providers to ensure commitments made are being delivered.
