People who have had a stroke or TIA can get the COVID-19 jab

All stroke and TIA survivors are in priority group 6 and are therefore eligible to receive the vaccine.

Many stroke survivors calling the Stroke Association helpline to report that their doctors believe they are not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, and are not being offered it as a result.

Given the high prevalence of stroke and the resulting clinical frailty, all stroke survivors (including subarachnoid haemorrhage) and those who have had a transient ischaemic attack are in priority group 6 and are therefore eligible to receive the vaccine.
