Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust delivers 100,000 Covid vaccinations
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust staff celebrated reaching the milestone of delivering 100,000 Covid vaccinations from the Trust’s vaccination centres at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Woolwich on Friday 30 July 2021.
Emmanuel Graham, aged 18 from Lewisham came to University Hospital Lewisham and received the 100,000th vaccination given by LGT. Andriana Lukulay, aged 21 from Erith, (pictured below getting the vaccine) then received the 100,001st vaccination – this time from LGT’s vaccination centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Over 18? Don't miss your vaccine
If you live in south east London and are eligible for a Covid vaccination, you can get it from a number of walk-in and pop-up clinics.
Emmanuel said: “This year has been hard for everyone and we have an opportunity to return to normality by getting the vaccine - so it is so important to do so. I’d like to thank the NHS for making this possible. I normally don’t like getting vaccinations but the whole process was really smooth and painless and it didn’t take long at all.”
Andriana said: “I’m going to study nursing from September at university, so it’s so important that I get the vaccine to keep myself and patients safe when I go on placements. I’d urge everyone to get the vaccine and thank the NHS staff who are providing it. It was also lovely to meet the Chief Nurse at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and get useful advice and encouragement for a career in nursing.”
Ben Travis, Chief Executive of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, said: “Our staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly in our vaccination clinics and we’re so proud to have reached this milestone.”
LGT’s vaccination centres have contributed to the NHS Covid vaccination programme in south east London, which has delivered over 2.2 million vaccinations.
