Help to improve LGBTI+ experiences in healthcare
NHS England and NHS Improvement are working in collaboration with LGBT Foundation, Switchboard, GLAAD, Consortium and Stonewall to set up an LGBTI+ Sounding Board and a wider experience network. This is one way that the LGBT+ Health team and other programmes can work in partnership with LGBTI+ people and communities and make a real difference to the way that LGBTI+ people access and experience health and wellbeing.
They are looking for 20 LGBTI+ people to join the LGBTI+ Sounding Boards, and taking expressions of interest from anyone who would like to be part of the wider experience network. They are particularly looking to hear from people facing the biggest barriers to accessing healthcare, including LGBTI+ people of colour and LGBTI+ disabled people.
LGBTI+ Sounding Board members will:
- Play a key role in policy and strategy development, and provide feedback on their own experiences as LGBTI+ people.
- Advise NHS England and NHS Improvement and other relevant bodies on the diverse experiences of LGBTI+ communities within health care, and raise opportunities for change and development.
- Support NHS England and NHS Improvement and partners to develop effective solutions for tackling inequality and discrimination affecting LGBTI+ people when accessing health care services.
The deadline to apply is 4 May. For more information and to apply, visit the LGBT Foundation website or the NHS England and NHS Improvement Get involved page
