Queen Elizabeth receptionist wins Employee of the Month!
Congratulations to Teresa Brady, Dermatology Outpatients Receptionist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital who has been chosen as Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust's Employee of the Month for August.
Teresa demonstrated her resilience and adaptability in difficult post-pandemic circumstances. Her colleagues praised her friendly and supportive approach. When patients and service users were under stress and duress, she made them feel welcome and listened to. Her smile and empathy had a positive impact making a real difference to patients and service users.
Kiki Bourcha, Engagement Manager, Healthwatch Greenwich and Jacqueline Lee, Outpatients Supervisor congratulated Teresa and presented her with a certificate. Teresa was also later presented with a fruit basket, donated by Hasan, who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Kelly Redman, Head of Outpatients and Phlebotomy explained why she nominated her: “Teresa has shown a phenomenal work ethic over the last two years, she has single handedly managed the front of house for one of the busiest outpatient areas at the hospital, ensuring continuity for the patients and for the clinical teams.”
“She is a friendly and approachable member of the team, her knowledge for outpatients’ processes and systems is extremely high and she is always willing to share this learning with her colleagues.”
“Many of our patients are anxious when they arrive, but with a smile and some reassurance from Teresa, they are left feeling more comfortable when asked to take a seat before their appointment. We regularly receive wonderful feedback for the reception team and their desk is always receiving thank you cards from patients.”
“Teresa has a wonderful way about her which instantly calms and reassures individuals. She is unflappable which creates an environment of control, even on the busiest of days. “
A surprised Teresa responded: “I appreciate being recognised for the work that I do within the team and it feels great to have won the Employee of the Month award."
