Junior doctors and dental trainees to take strike action
The British Medical Association (BMA) has confirmed that junior doctors in England will be taking strike action from Monday 13 March to Wednesday 15 March. The Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) has also confirmed that junior doctors will align their strike action with the BMA.
In addition to junior doctors, the British Dental Association (BDA) has announced that hospital dental trainees in England will join the BMA in strike action on the same dates.
SEL ICS said "We understand that this may cause concern for local people and want to reassure you that the NHS has contingency plans in place to ensure that urgent and emergency care will still be provided. We advise patients to attend appointments unless they are contacted to reschedule. Where there is a clinical or safety reason to reschedule appointments and operations, services are contacting patients directly.
During the strike, south east London partners will make every effort to support patients, especially those who have the greatest clinical need.
We recognise this will be a worrying and potentially frustrating time for residents in south east London and it is important that we reassure the public to come forward for emergency services as normal. People can help alleviate pressure on our services by using the right services when appropriate."
