Recent inspection rates Eltham Palace Surgery ‘inadequate’ for safety of patients
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its final report on Eltham Palace Surgery has rated it ‘inadequate.’
The independent regulator conducted inspection visits to the practice, which serves approximately 8000 patients, on May 3 and 4. The final report on the two-day inspection, which was made public on August 10, said the overall rating of the practice is ‘Inadequate’. The inadequate rating means the service is performing badly and regulator have taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
Healthwatch Greenwich is working with primary care commissioners of this service to understand what action will be taken as a result and gain assurance of the safety of patients using this service.
Responding to the findings of the CQC inspection report, a spokesperson for the NHS South East London Integrated Care Board said, “We understand that patients will be concerned about the issues raised in the CQC’s report. As commissioners of primary care services locally we share those concerns.”
According to CQC, the practice was rated Good overall and for all key questions, following their previous inspection on 12 July 2017.
“We are working closely with Eltham Palace Surgery to address the issues identified by the CQC as a matter of urgency and to improve access, safety and service quality for patients swiftly,” added the spokesperson. “We will provide the CQC with any support and assistance they need as they monitor and re-inspect the practice.”
