Across Greenwich, many organisations are making a big difference by offering mental wellbeing support to their communities. They focus on helping people who often find it harder to access mental health services. This includes people from global majority communities, those living with disabilities, LGBTQI+ individuals, rough sleepers, families with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and survivors of domestic abuse. Despite their hard work, these organisations often struggle with limited resources and capacity challenges, which makes it harder to help all those who need it.

What is 'Be Well Support?'

Recognising this urgent need for enhanced support in our communities, our experienced team at Healthwatch Greenwich has formed a partnership with Greenwich Public Health to address this gap. We are committed to assisting a select group of grassroots organisations with access to essential training, resources, and opportunities that will help them to become a 'Be Well' organisation. Our customised support includes:

  • One-on-One Support: We offer comprehensive one-on-one sessions designed to equip Be Well Champions with the necessary skills needed to better support members of their community.
  • Networking Opportunities: By fostering connections among different Be Well organisations and community groups, we create a collaborative environment where knowledge and resources can be shared, ultimately strengthening overall community support.
  • Access to Funding Support: We offer financial support to organisations wanting to implement activities and initiatives aimed at enhancing mental wellbeing. Our goal is to strengthen these efforts and ensure that these organisations reach those who need it most.
By collaborating with local organisations, we strive to amplify the voices of local communities to address health inequalities, tackle the root causes of mental ill-health, promote access to health services, and provide support to people in the community.

What is 'Be Well'?

Be Well is an initiative designed to support local organisations in:

  • Creating better mental health outcomes in their communities.
  • Reducing social isolation by creating spaces where people can meet and form connections.
  • Help solve the barriers that many people face in accessing mental health support.
