A recent article in the Health Service Journal (July 2025) highlights that Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich was among the three lowest-performing A&E departments in England in 2024–25. Fewer than 40% of patients were seen, treated, admitted, or discharged within four hours.
This mirrors what we’re hearing from local people: long waits, overcrowding, and poor communication during what can be an already distressing experience.
At Healthwatch Greenwich, we are:
- Collecting feedback to understand the real-life impact of these delays.
- Working with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and the South East London ICB to understand current pressures and how patient experience is being prioritised.
- Committed to ensuring that improvement efforts are shaped by what matters to patients and their families.
