Every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard, before, during, and after giving birth. Yet for too many, pregnancy and childbirth remain deeply challenging experiences marked by lack of support and unmet needs. As we mark World Health Day 2025, Healthwatch Greenwich stands with the global campaign “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures,” calling for urgent action to protect the lives and wellbeing of mothers and babies, and to centre women’s voices in shaping the care they receive.

When services work well, it's often because they listen—deeply and consistently—to the people they’re designed to serve. In Greenwich, the development of reablement services has been underpinned not just by strong clinical leadership or operational redesign, but by an equally vital force: the voice of residents, amplified through the work of Healthwatch Greenwich. More than simply identifying areas for improvement, our work has helped service leaders see the system from the ground up—through the lived experience of those navigating care during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

Through our Be Well Support programme, Healthwatch Greenwich is empowering grassroots organisations with the tools, training, and connections they need to champion better mental wellbeing in their communities.
