Special Pfizer vaccination event at Charlton Athletic Football Club this Saturday 26 June

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is inviting people from Royal Greenwich and wider afield to a second mass vaccination event at Charlton Athletic Football Club this Saturday 26 June from 8am to 8pm.

From 8am to 8pm, teams of vaccinators will be administering Pfizer to people aged 18 and over via pre-booked appointments, and the first 1,000 people to arrive will receive a free ticket to a Charlton Athletic home game.

Join the one-day Pfizer vaccination event at The Valley on Saturday 26 June, from 8am to 8pm, at Charlton Athletic Football Club.

The event is open to:

  • everyone aged 18 and over
  • first dose Pfizer
  • pre-booked appointments only.

And definitely one for footie fans as it’s a chance to get pitchside, with the first 1,000 people to get vaccinated receiving a free ticket to CAFC home game.

With the Delta variant, increasing infections and the easing of restrictions delayed, we need everyone to get vaccinated to beat this disease and get back to doing the things we love.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich, Charlton Athletic Football Club, South East London Clinical Commissioning Group and Greenwich Health GP Federation have teamed up to arrange this mass vaccination event to help get as many people protected as possible - turning the football stadium once again into a mass vaccination centre.

All GP practices throughout the borough are supporting the event and many are delivering the vaccine on the day.

Cllr Danny Thorpe, London Councils Executive member for Health and Care and Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “Getting vaccinated at our famous, local football stadium is a terrific opportunity – not only for those who desperately want to get vaccinated, but also footie fans with a chance to take selfies in the stand. As the government has announced that restrictions will be extended due to increasing infections, we need everyone to get vaccinated to beat this disease and get back to doing the things we love.”

Wayne Mumford, Charlton Athletic’s Commercial Director said: “We’re looking forward to hosting our second Vaccination At The Valley on Saturday. The event will give local people aged over 18 the opportunity to come to The Valley, get a picture pitchside and get the Pfizer vaccine. As a club we have a long history of excellent work in the local community and we’re pleased to be partnering with the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Greenwich Health and South East London Clinical Commissioning Group to support this important activity.”

Dr Krishna Subbarayan, GP and Governing Body Member NHS South East London Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Although younger adults are less at risk from serious illness with COVID-19 it is still important that they get have the vaccine to protect their friends and family as well as themselves. Getting vaccinated will help us all return to our normal lives."
