Doctors go on four-days strike this week

A four-day strike by doctors is likely to increase pressure on hospitals across South East London Here's how to get the help you need!
Health Care Services and their contacts

Doctors are striking from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 December. The four-day strike is likely to affect health services. Doctors will again go on strike from Wednesday 3 to Tuesday 9 January.

There are also two bank holidays coming up, Christmas and Boxing days on 25 and 26 December, and New Year’s day on 1 January. And this is a time of year when our hospitals, including across south east London are always very busy. Pharmacies are not affected by the strike, but Bank Holidays can affect the opening hours of local pharmacies.

Please help us by sharing this message widely.

If you, or the people you support, need help from the NHS, please:

  • Plan ahead, if possible, if you need pharmacy service over the bank holiday. See the guide to the opening hours for pharmacies.
  • Only go to the Emergency Department (A&E) or call 999 for a life-threatening emergency or serious injury
  • If you are unwell, contact your GP
  • Outside GP hours, go to NHS 111 online
  • For a mental health emergency go to NHS 111 online
  • People who don’t have internet access can call NHS 111 by dialling 111
  • And you can also visit your local pharmacy for expert advice and medicines.
