Are you passionate about improving and developing local maternity care services for women and their families?
These are voluntary roles covering a fixed term of 2 years with potential to extend beyond this. The role offers flexible hours for working with service users but does have some fixed meeting times with maternity care services. As a guide, hours will be an average of five days per month, which is split in areas with a co-chair.
All MVP Chairs/Co Chairs receive remuneration for expenses, and are provided with an induction, and training package to support them. Note you can submit a single application for all roles but can only undertake one at a time.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference for women and families in either of these areas through working directly with service users and acting as a conduit to feedback to maternity professionals in order to make maternity services as good as they can be. MVPs are really important in ensuring that all service users’ voices are listened to, and do, and have, already made a big difference in improving maternity care for so many women and their families.
As Chair, or Co chair, you equally have an important role in ensuring that the voice of maternity service users is heard in discussions with maternity care services and those who commission (pay for or fund) these services. The successful candidate/s will be a point of contact for service users and will ensure that their views are heard. They will Chair the MVP meeting and any sub-meetings and will lead a range of service user engagement activities across their area but will also work closely with other areas in south east London because women tend to use the same hospitals to have their babies.
The role requires good communication and engagement skills, and an ability to represent the views of service users in their area. The successful candidate will have experience of using maternity services directly, or indirectly, and demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for improvement in maternity care.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed where necessary and involvement payment will be made via NHS south east London CCG to the Chairs, and Co-Chairs in line with NHS England’s, Public and Patient Voice Partners Policy.
Applications for this role must be received by 13th September 2021 and interviews will take place in October 2021, date TBC.
